Richmond II: Johnson rain out qualifying interview

Team Chevy's Jimmie Johnson, No. 48 Lowe's Impala SS, will start third in the Chevy Rock and Roll 400 as a result of qualifying being cancelled and the race postponed until Sunday at 1:00 p.m. due to severity weather.

JIMMIE, YOUR THOUGHTS ON SUNDAY'S RACE, THE START OF THE CHASE AND GOING FOR THIRD CHAMPIONSHIP: "I think it will be a good race. I think that the daylight race will have us all searching for grip and slow the pace down of the race and we will have more side-by-side racing. It will probably put on a better show for the fans. I prefer the night race; I think the fans do as well. I was in a day race or two here that were intended to be night races that ended up being day races that were really really good. I think we will put on a good show."

WILL YOU GO HOME AND COME BACK? DOES IT UPSET THE APPLE CART, THE RHYTHM, THE ROUTINE? "I am not sure what I am doing yet. Trying to find a ride home if I can. If not, just be lazy and sit around and see if any golf carts float by or fly by throughout the night. The rhythm of it, you know you are racing at a given time. You know the conditions. I think it is going to be easier on the teams and drivers if we can just keep everybody out of trouble tonight and tomorrow across the board, we will be in good shape for the Sunday race."

IS THIS RACE CRESCENDO OF THE SEASON? "Kyle (Busch) is trying to figure out what crescendo means. (LAUGHS) So I will answer the question. (MORE LAUGHTER) What was the question again? (MORE LAUGHTER) I think it is. I think this track promotes great side-by-side racing and you have some incidents that kind of make this track a risky one. For myself, this track has been a tough one over the years even though we ran well here last year. When the season started, I wanted to be locked in before we got here. I am very very happy and relieved to be in that position. I can remember watching some guys over the years just fighting tooth and nail here, this is a tough track if your stuff's not right to hang on and try and transfer. So, there is a lot of pressure that builds up for this event."
