Menards Racing Richmond Bound

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (September 3, 2008) -- Paul Menard and his Dale Earnhardt Inc. backed NASCAR Sprint Cup team head to Richmond International Raceway for a return to short track racing. The ¾-mile track in Richmond, Virginia has become a driver favorite for the high speeds and exciting racing action. With a successful background in short track racing, Menard is one the track's biggest fans.

"I've always enjoyed racing at Richmond and we've had some really solid runs at this sort of track," Menard explained. "This is always a fun race to run and it's going to be important to a few of the guys still trying to get into the Chase so that will definitely make it more interesting for the fans. As a team, we're just focused on getting our first top-10 (finish) of the year."

Menard and the No. 15 Energizer/Menards team will race chassis #060. The car was last raced at Martinsville Speedway in March and tested last week at the Milwaukee Mile, where Menard won the NASCAR Nationwide Series race in 2006.

"We really just worked on the attitude of the car while testing (at Milwaukee), trying to find front grip, something we've been lacking at these short tracks," Menard explained.

The lessons learned at the test will aid the team in this weekend's Chevy Rock and Roll 400 and the driver of the Menards Chevrolet hopes the extra seat time will improve the team's performance over last week's run in California.

"With a pretty successful test in Milwaukee, we'll apply what we learned and just try to get back on track," Menard said. "We need to be consistent throughout the race. In Fontana, we were pretty good in the sun, then as it cooled off we got a lot worse. We'll need to be up on our adjustments throughout the night to have a good run at Richmond."
