RICHMOND INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY LOOKS TOWARD SPRING, THE GROUND COMES ALIVE FOR MARCH 3,4 & 5 NASCAR WEEKEND STARTING WITH FRIDAY'S FAS MART POLE DAY

RICHMOND, VA - Just when you thought you would never hear another motor again, Richmond International Raceway is already revving up for spring and awesome side by side Winston Cup/Busch Series Grand Naitional racing at Richmond's "Action Track". Gates open for FAS MART POLE DAY on Friday March 3rd at 8:00 a.m. For $5, KIDS 12 AND UNDER FREE, race fans will see a whole day of NASCAR qualifying action. For the first time at RIR, the Busch Series will hold two rounds of eliminations for Saturday's HARDEE'S FRISCO 250. Winston Cup will hold first round qualifying (pos. 1-20) in between the two rounds of Busch Series qualifying.

For the last two Busch Series events, RIR has received an average of 61 Grand National cars attempting to qualify. The field is expected to swell further until until (pos. 1-20) time trials begin on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Positions 26-36 for Saturday's HARDEE'S FRISCO 250 will be decided following the first round (pos. 1-20) qualifying for Sunday's PONTIAC EXCITEMENT 400 at 2:30 p.m. That will leave over 25 Busch Series qualifiers vying for the two provisional positions #37 and #38 on FAS MART POLE DAY.

Saturday, March 4, gates open at 8:00 a.m. for second round Winston Cup qualifying beginning at 11:30 a.m. The HARDEE'S FRISCO 250 takes center stage at 1:15 p.m. as tomorrow's Winston Cup stars trade paint with some of today's Winston Cup's biggest stars for 250 laps on the "Action Track".
