Target Team Fast Facts:
* Readying for Richmond: The Target team, along with many of the NEXTEL Cup Series teams, tested at the .75-mile Richmond International Raceway on Apr. 11 and 12 in preparation for this weekend's event.
* Unfamiliar Territory: Sorenson and the No. 41 team tested at the newly paved Lowe's Motor Speedway on Tues. and Wed. Sorenson posted the 20th-fastest lap on Tues. with a lap time of 29.588 sec./182.506 mph. The fastest time of the day was set at 29.365 sec./183.892 mph. The Charlotte events begin with the NEXTEL All-Star Challenge on May 20 and conclude with the longest race of the season, the Coca-Cola 600 on May 28.
* NEXTEL Cup Points Report: Sorenson and the Target team maintained 24th in the overall standings with their 26th-place effort in the last event at Talladega. The team is 140 points out of 15th and 237 out of the top 10 heading into this weekend's event at Richmond.
* Chassis: Crew Chief Jimmy Elledge and the Target Team have selected chassis #502 for this weekend's NEXTEL Cup event at Richmond. This is the same car Sorenson finished 12th with at Martinsville on Apr. 2. The Target team used this car five times in 2005, including both Richmond races.
* Rookie Round Up: Sorenson currently sits fifth in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year standings with 75 points. He trails leader Clint Bowyer by 16 points. Sorenson has captured rookie of the race honors in two of the nine races run thus far in '06 (Atlanta -- 10th-place finish, Martinsville -- 12th).
* Busch Series Update: Sorenson sits 12th in the Busch Series standings heading into Richmond. The Discount Tire team is only 13 points out of 10th position and 126 out of the top five.
Reed Sorenson on Richmond...
"I'm anxious to get to Richmond this weekend for a number of reasons. I ran there twice last season in the Busch car and tested with both the Busch and Cup cars at the track a couple of weeks ago. I've got more laps there than a lot of the tracks on the schedule, and having the familiarity with the track should get us up to speed much faster this weekend.
"I'm excited about this weekend because we're trying some new things with our short track cars. After Martinsville, we realized we needed to change a few things. The guys at the shop have spent a lot of time on our cars making improvements and I'm looking forward to trying those out this weekend.
"I'm very pleased with our performance this year as a team, although we don't necessarily have great results to show for it. Our cars have been extremely competitive, we've just had terrible luck so far. I guess it's better to have that than to be slow and looking for speed. I have to think eventually our luck will change and hopefully that will be this weekend."
