Robby Gordon Phoenix Preview

Charlotte, NC (February 25, 2011) -- The second race of the NASCAR Sprint Cup 2011 schedule takes the teams to the Valley of the Sun, Phoenix, AZ. Robby Gordon and the No. 7 SPEED Energy team sit comfortably in the 16th position of the 2011 owner points standings following the Daytona 500.

Making his first Cup start at Phoenix in 1996, Robby Gordon recorded a 14th place finish in the 2010 spring event at Phoenix International Raceway and looks to improve on that this weekend at the 1-mile oval. PIR is one of Gordon's favorite tracks on the NASCAR schedule as it where he scored his first Indy Car victory.

The No. 7 SPEED Energy Dodge Charger R/T will be featuring a new partner, Bashas' Supermarkets, this weekend.

"We had some strong runs in Phoenix last season. We were a top 10 car all day at last year's spring Cup race. I think coming back with Penske power under our Dodge Charger is going to be a lot of fun. With our great run last weekend at the (Daytona)500, we have a lot of momentum with this SPEED Energy team. Bashas' is one of our partners and we hope to give them something to root for come Sunday," commented Robby Gordon, driver of the No. 7 SPEED Energy Dodge Charger R/T.

Robby Gordon will be signing autographs tonight at the Bashas' Supermarket located at 75th Ave & Thunderbird, 7586 W Thunderbird Rd., Peoria, AZ 85381. On Sunday, Gordon will appear at the Robby Gordon Motorsports/SPEED Energy souvenir trailer at 9am local time.
