ROANOKE, TX (April 8, 2011) - Roush Yates Engines, for the second time in 2011, took Roush Fenway entries to the No. 1 and No. 2 starting positions during today's qualifications at the Texas Motor Speedway near Ft. Worth. Roush Fenway drivers David Ragan and Carl Edwards will lead the field in the track's first Sprint Cup event to start under the lights - Saturday evening's Samsung 500.
Ragan's No. 6 UPS Freight-sponsored Ford Fusion toured the D-shaped 1.5-mile oval at 189.821 mph earning the top spot while Edwards' No. 99 Scott's Fusion was second at 188.520 mph. It was Ragan's first career NASCAR Sprint Cup Series pole and third pole of the 2011 season for Roush Yates Engines and Roush Fenway Racing. A third Roush Fenway driver, Matt Kenseth, will start fourth.
In all, five Roush Yates FR9-powered Ford entries placed in the top nine starters for tomorrow evening's 334-lap race.
"I have to really hand it to the Roush Fenway and Richard Petty Motorsports organizations," said Roush Yates CEO Doug Yates. "Both teams continue to exhibit they can take a fantastic engine package and apply their all-around great engineering to make these Fords really fast. I can't wait to see how they all perform tomorrow. It should be a lot of fun to watch."

Ragan was visibly pleased by his career milestone first pole.
"Momentum is a very powerful thing, and we have momentum on our side," said Ragan. "It was a fast lap and the car stuck good and it gives us a good spot on pit road and I think our car is fast in race trim. It should be a fine Saturday night."
Carl Edwards used his Roush Yates FR9 engine to power his way to the pole position in tonight's Nationwide race, giving Roush Yates two poles in one day at Texas Motor Speedway.
