Elliott Sadler wheeled the No. 38 Robert Yates Racing Ford to the front row for Sunday's Food City 500 in today's qualifying at the Bristol Motor Speedway. This is Sadler's first pole of the season and third of his career.

"I love this place so much," said Sadler of his first Bristol front row start. "There's so much energy here. The fans are so vocal and so loud and you just get so pumped for qualifying. I'm so proud of everybody on the M&M's car. We know we've got a hot rod for the race. I can't wait for Sunday."

Sadler's first win of his career came at Bristol in 2001 while he was driving the No. 21 Ford for the Woods Brothers. In thirteen starts, Sadler has five top-15 finishes.

"We're bad to the bone in race trim," continued Sadler. "It's the best car I've ever had here in race trim. I didn't know we could run that fast."

Sadler, currently eighth in series points, is looking to gain some ground in the top ten this weekend. Of the four races completed this season, he has three top-11 results.

"It's a great feeling to come to Bristol and run good, everyone knows it is one of my favorite race tracks. It is the same car that finished fifth here last year. To go out there and run that kind of lap in race trim; that is a great, great lap.to sit on the pole is a great feat. It's probably the best thing that has happened to me since that first win."

Lining up beside Sadler will be the No. 07 Chevy of Dave Blaney. This is Blaney's best start of the season.

"I didn't even look how close, but it was a good lap," said Blaney. "We just wanted to get a good lap. Anything inside of the top fifteen and I would have been happy."

Rusty Wallace, who was fastest in Friday's practice session, was third.

"I feel good about it," said Wallace. "Third, that's a great place to start at Bristol. Good pit selection, I feel really good about our car. I feel real comfortable and real confident. I look forward to the race on Sunday."

Jeff Gordon and Travis Kvapil complete the top five.

"First time I came here in a truck we won the race," said Kvapil, who was the highest qualifying rookie. "We came here fast and made some adjustments just like Rusty (Wallace) did and we both found our way to the top."

After Carl Edwards amazing weekend at Atlanta, he proved he was not invincible. Edwards wrecked the No. 99 Roush Ford coming into turn three. There was heavy damage on the nose of Edwards' ride. He will start 43rd.

Forty-eight cars attempted to qualify for the forty-three car field. Failing to make the show were Johnny Sauter, Kevin LePage, Robby Gordon, Randy LaJoie and Brad Teague.
