Sears Point: Haas CNC Racing preview

Team: Max Papis, No. 66 Haas Automation Inc. Chevrolet Impala SS.

Last Race: Papis competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans last weekend and his team earned a spot on the podium, finishing third in the GT1 Class.

Max Papis at Infineon: First NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Start at Infineon Raceway.

Max Papis: "I'm honored to be a part of the Haas CNC Racing organization and to have the chance to represent them at Infineon Raceway. I'm heading into the weekend with a smile on my face and a great passion to make the most of this opportunity to drive the Haas Automation Chevy Impala. Although I don't have any NASCAR starts here, I believe the work I've done with Hendrick Motorsports in developing their new road course cars will serve me well. Our team tested well at Virginia International Raceway, and although the team has been a bit down on their luck, they remain highly motivated and I believe we can have a great weekend."

Team: Scott Riggs, No. 70 Haas Automation Chevrolet Impala SS.

Last Race: Riggs battled a loose handling car (No. 66) en route to a 33rd place finish in the LifeLock 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

Scott Riggs at Infineon: 3 Starts; Best Finish, 24th (June 2005); Avg. Start 27th; Avg. Finish 31st.

Scott Riggs: "Unfortunately we had a bad race at Michigan last week and fell outside the Top-35 in owner points heading to Infineon Raceway. We decided it would be best to allow Max Papis to carry the No. 66 this weekend because he is a more experienced road racer and offers the best chance to get us back into the Top-35. It's "big picture" racing and I'm absolutely fine with it. The guaranteed starting position is the most important thing for our team. The No. 70 team is going to give it all we have. No one is giving up. Obviously, the best situation would be for both cars to quality and race well. That's always the goal."
