Truex Hoping That Turning Right Changes His Luck

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (June 17, 2008) -- After struggling in last weekend's NASCAR Sprint Cup event at Michigan, Martin Truex Jr. hopes that his team's fortunes will change on the 1.99-mile road course of Infineon Raceway, site of Sunday's Toyota/Save Mart 350.

"We've been inconsistent on the traditional oval tracks this year, so maybe we need a road course to change our luck," Truex said. "Maybe all we need to do is turn right a few times."

Though he doesn't consider himself a road racing 'ace', Truex says that he has gotten more comfortable on tracks like Infineon.

"I don't consider myself the best road racer out there, but I definitely feel I've gotten better at it over the years," explained Truex. "I enjoy racing on tracks like Infineon and I take pride in the fact that we've been competitive there and at Watkins Glen (N.Y.)."

Although he has yet to visit victory lane at Infineon, Truex won the first Nationwide Series race held at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez road course in Mexico City in 2005.

"We really need a top-five finish on Sunday," said Truex. "Even though we've struggled some, a lot of the guys who are near us in points have had some bad luck, too. We can't count on that to keep happening, though. Our team needs some good finishes so we can move up in the points, make the Chase, and control our own destiny."
