The race was originally scheduled to go green shortly after 2 p.m. ET.

Sunday’s race is the second of three in this Chase round used to determine who will battle for the Sprint Cup Series championship in two weeks at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Jimmie Johnson locked himself into the Championship 4 with his victory last weekend at Martinsville, Va.

Following next weekend’s race at Phoenix, the four Chase drivers lowest in points and without a win will be eliminated from title contention and the remaining four will compete for the title in the Homestead race.

Entering the Texas race, following Johnson, the remaining seven Chase drivers ranked by points are: Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, Kyle Busch, Joey Logano, Kevin Harvick, Kurt Busch and Carl Edwards.

Austin Dillon, who is no longer in Chase contention, will start the Texas race from the pole.

Meanwhile, Chase Elliott is feeling under the weather. He will still start the race, but Justin Allgaier will be nearby should he need to get out of the car.

The race finally got underway at 7:55 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
