RACE WEEK CAMPERS GET VIP TREATMENT

FORT WORTH-DALLAS - (March 19, 1999) Texas Motor Speedway is improving the camping experience for race fans with new amenities.

"In addition to our reserved infield spots, this year we've added an outside VIP reserved area," said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "We're also servicing the folks in our regular outside camp area with a temporary onsite convenience store and three restaurant choices."

Through the new VIP Reserved Camping, located adjacent to the Village of Champions near the South Tunnel, racing enthusiasts not only receive a 20' X 45' location but are also guaranteed: 24-hour security; a prime location near both the main grandstand and the showers and restrooms; one free water supply and waste stop per weekend, and daily delivery of The Dallas Morning News. The reserved spots are $500 for the season or $300 for the weekend.

"We had requests for reserved outside camping spaces so, once again, we listened to the fans and worked to satisfy our fans, " said Eddie Gossage, speedway vice-president and general manager. "The VIP Reserved Camping area is another way we are making our facility fan-oriented."

Reserved infield RV spaces may be purchased for the season or for individual races. Prices range from $450 for an interior space to $1000 for a wall space for the season. A reserved infield RV space for the NASCAR weekend will cost $300. All individuals who enter the infield must have an infield ticket for the week. The infield tickets can be purchased in advance for $50 through the Ticket Office at (817) 215-8500 or for $55 at the gate.

Located outside Turn 3, general outfield camping is also available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The camping spaces are $30 per event weekend.

Amenities include daily delivery of The Dallas Morning News, and the convenience of an on-site Albertson's grocery as well as Cicci's Pizza, Chez Willie, and RRR Barbeque, who will be set up to serve meals Thursday through Sunday. Reddy Ice will have a station to provide ice for campers. Trams run daily to transport campers to the restroom facility located at Allison Ave. and Lone Star Circle, next to Village of Champions.
