Clint Bowyer, No. 07 Jack Daniel's Monte Carlo SS, met with members of the media at Texas Motor Speedway and discussed rumored changes in how Cup drivers will be allowed to participate in NASCAR Nationwide Series in 2008; being the underdog in the Chase; expectations at Phoenix International Speedway and other topics:

ON RUMORED RULES CHANGES FOR HOW CUP DRIVERS ARE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE NASCAR NATIONWIDE SERIES IN 2008 AND BEYOND: "I am not sure what they will end up doing, but rules are rules and if they make that rule, everybody is going to have to abide by it. I am sure everyone will see what is going on and look at their schedule and what they can do for us to continue to race in that series.

ON IF HE WILL CONTINUE TO RACE IN THE SERIES: "It just depends. Right now I am not racing for points anyhow doing what I am doing with a partial schedule, so it is really not all that big of a deal. If I wanted to race it full time for a championship, I think it would be a big deal, yes. I am a racer, I love racing. I will race anything. I race the dirt car every chance I get during the week and I am certainly not racing for points there. If there is a race on Saturday and we can run it, of course I want to race."

ON PHOENIX INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY: "I like Phoenix, I think it is a perfect race track. I like mile race tracks, I don't know if it fits my driving style differently, just really enjoy driving on mile race tracks. It is just big enough where aerodynamics are things that are a little bit of an issue, but you can also beat and bang on each other a little bit. If you knock a fender in, you can beat it out and still have a decent day. Phoenix is a fun race track. I am looking forward to it. We are bringing the car we won with at New Hampshire. I have a lot of confidence in that car, in the equipment and looking forward to having a good day at Phoenix.

ON WHAT IS THE KEY FOR HIM TO WIN AT PHOENIX: "Hopefully the same thing that we had to win at New Hampshire. Just a well-balanced race car with a good tuned engine. Everybody on the team has got to running on all eight cylinders and right now, our complete package is really running pretty good and I am excited about it."

ON AFFECTING HIS DRIVING BY CHASING JIMMIE (JOHNSON) AND JEFF (GORDON): "You just go out and try and beat them. If you can, you can and if you can't, you can't, you can't wreck your race car trying to do something that is not there. You have got to take what it is going to give you and do the best we can, if it is meant to be, it is meant to be."

ON BEING UNDERDOG IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP: "Jimmie and Jeff, they deserve it. They are the ones that are putting a show on right now. We just have to race as hard as we can and try to be there for the taking if one or both of them slip up, we have to be there for the taking. I am just really proud of my Jack Daniel's Chevrolet and all the guys that are working on it. Gil (Martin, crew chief) has been working really hard to make that happen. Those are no slouches we are behind right there. For our second year, I think we are doing really good.

"I don't mind it a bit, let the pressure get on those guys. "

"Our expectations have changes a lot since the start of the change, you go from wondering if you can be a part of it, to winning your first race in the Chase to wanting to go on and win the championship. It is just amazing how you go from, race car drivers are greedy, we are greedy and we are all guilty of it. It is funny, I didn't have a race win, was hoping I could leave to the top-10 in the points so I could go to the banquet, then we win the first race of the Chase. We are guilty of being that."
