Denny Hamlin, No. 11 FedEx Kinko's Monte Carlo SS, met with members of the media and discussed the possibility of New Hampshire International Speedway losing a race, racing at Texas and Phoenix, what happened with his race car last weekend in Atlanta, if different skills are needed for different size tracks, the possibility of having six mile and a half tracks in the Chase, the test session in Atlanta, the role of luck during a race, analyzing Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon in the last three races, the challenge of racing Johnson and Gordon for a win, how experience in the Chase may benefit Johnson and Gordon, good tracks and bad tracks for drivers, how he would grade the Impala SS new generation race car, his prediction for the Patriots - Colts football game this weekend and the special helmet he'll wear for this weekend's race.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ABOUT NEW HAMPSHIRE POSSIBLY LOSING A RACE NEXT YEAR? "Personally I don't like it because I feel like we run really well at Loudon but they got to do what they got to do to expand the sport and of course it's more travel time for these guys if we go to Vegas instead but I'm willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to make this sport better."

ON RACING AT TEXAS: "It's good. This track's been really good to me. I think we've got one of the better average finishes of all the drivers out there so we come here knowing we can run well. We just got to continue to run as good as we do during the races and try to figure out a way to finish them there at the end."

HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE ASKED YOU WHY YOU RAN OUT OF GAS LAST WEEKEND WHEN YOU REALLY DIDN'T? "Well not that many. Everyone inside the sport knows basically what the deal was with us. They knew there were fueling problems. Everyone on the radios knew it. The only people that really didn't know it were the fans at home and the fans in the stands. I think NASCAR knew it was an issue. I'm glad that they finally addressed that there was a problem instead of kind of passing it off to somebody else."

WERE YOU CONTENT WITH NASCAR'S EXPLANATION? "Yeah. Nothing we can do about it now. There's nothing that they owe us or anything like that. Yeah, it cost us a pretty good finish but it's part of it. We weren't the only ones that had problems so it cost a lot of other guys bad days as well."

WERE YOU HAPPY WITH THE TEST IN ATLANTA? "I was definitely happy with my test in Atlanta. I feel like us and the 18 were the two best cars out there. Hopefully it's the sign of things to come in '08." -credit: gm racing
