'A Little Redemption at Texas'

This weekend, Jeff Green and the #43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge head to the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway for Sunday's Dickies 500. Green and the Cheerios team have only two DNF's this season, and only one from an accident. That came at Texas' Spring race when he was hit from behind and crashed.

Green is the only driver to have raced for the sport's biggest names. Throughout his career, he has driven for Cup's most legendary names, such as Junior Johnson, Felix Sabates, Richard Childress, Dale Earnhardt, and now Richard Petty. Green is in his second full season driving the legendary Petty Enterprises #43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge. The 2000 NASCAR Busch Grand National champion, he holds the record for the largest point's margin after winning the championship by 616 points. He is also a two-time NASCAR Nextel Cup pole winner, winning poles at the Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway and the pole for the 2003 Daytona 500.

The thoughts of #43 Cheerios/Betty Crocker Dodge driver Jeff Green heading into Texas:

"We haven't had great luck all the time this season, but we've had enough to be able to finish all our races. That's a big plus in our sport. Anytime you can finish the race you build consistency. You can build from that. We have done a better job of that this season than last year. It really helped our finishes and performance by not having a lot of DNF's.

"A DNF is probably one of the most frustrating things that can happen to you when racing. We had a great car at Texas in April, but we got taken out in an accident. That was so disappointing. It's even worse when you look back now. We have had a better season, shown improvement, and haven't had any wrecks that put us out of the race except for the one at Texas. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth when something like that happens.

"There wasn't anything we could have done about it. It was just one of those things. We came back and finished the rest of the races, and had some good runs, before losing an engine at Martinsville. You take those two finishes out and we have had a year that really showed a ton of improvement. The guys that prepare and work on this Cheerios Dodge have done a great job for us all season. It's a long season, but to only have a couple of things that put us out of races really show's how good these guys are.

"I think Texas might owe us one now. We can try and make up for what happened in April. We've got another chance to finish what we started. We're going all out the rest of the season. We haven't been holding anything back, and we're going to bring it all this weekend. We had a fast machine in April, and we think we can be just as good this weekend.

"Texas is a fast track. It's a lot like Atlanta. You prepare and get ready for Texas a little like you do for Atlanta. You want an aerodynamic car that is good with downforce. You want one that's good in the turns and has good horsepower. We're going to be ready and hopefully we'll have some better luck.

"There are some things in racing you just can't control. An accident that you can't avoid or didn't start is one of them. We experienced that here in April, but hopefully we won't have to go through that again. This Cheerios team wants to finish that good run we started. We are ready for a little redemption this weekend at Texas."
