Jeremy Mayfield Quotes:

"The last three weeks haven't turned out the way we expected. We had tire problems at Charlotte and Martinsville and then a broken flywheel at Atlanta. In all three races, we had a good car that was capable of running up front. But, those things happen. That's racing. You just have to accept it as part of racing, put it behind you and look towards the next race. We're headed to Texas looking to get things back on track and race competitively. The objective is to move up as far as we can in the Chase standings in the next three races. If things continue the way they have for the Chase drivers the last couple of weeks, anything is possible.

"They've never had a repeat winner at Texas. We don't mind that trend continuing. Besides, it's time that Evernham Motorsports has one of its Dodge Chargers in victory lane. Now that they've changed the starting time, the race will end under the lights. That's means continuous changes in track conditions. We just have to make sure the No. 19 Dodge team has a handle on the setup at the start of the race and makes the adjustments that keep up with the changing conditions."

JEREMY MAYFIELD AT TEXAS
This weekend marks Mayfield's 10th career visit to Texas Motor Speedway. He has one pole, one top five, two top 10s and has led four races for a total of 159 laps at the track.

Mayfield's first start at the track came in April of 1997, when he started 20th and finished 32nd.

MAYFIELD'S TEXAS BESTS
Mayfield earned the very first NASCAR Cup pole position at Texas Motor Speedway in April of 1998. (Qualifying was rained out for the first Cup Series race at Texas in 1997, and no Bud Pole was awarded.)

Mayfield earned his best finish at Texas in 1999 when he started 27th and finished fifth.

ON THE BACKSTRETCH -- SEVEN DOWN, THREE TO GO
Mayfield is 10th in the Chase for the Championship standings; he's 310 points behind the leader.

In the span of 25 races this year, Mayfield climbed from a low ranking of 26th after Las Vegas to a career-high Chase ranking of seventh after Dover.

BETTER THAN AVERAGE
Mayfield is tied for the seventh-best average finish (15th) among drivers who have completed all 33 races this season.

The No. 19 Dodge has earned an average start of 15th this season. Of the drivers who have competed in all 33 races this year, Mayfield is ranked eighth, in a two-way tie with teammate Kasey Kahne.

MAYFIELD KEEPS GOING-- AND GOING-- AND GOING--
Mayfield's 98.5% laps completed percentage ranks fourth among drivers who have competed in every race this year. Mayfield has finished 24 of 33 races on the lead lap, and he has only one DNF in 2005.

2005 CAREER BESTS Mayfield claimed his fifth NASCAR Nextel Cup victory at the two-mile Michigan Int'l Speedway in August.

Mayfield's fourth-place finish at Indianapolis was a career-high finish at the historic track. Mayfield also notched a career-best finish at Talladega when he finished fourth in April, and he tied his career-best seventh place finish at Infineon Raceway in June.

MAYFIELD WINS AT MICHIGAN!!! Mayfield scored his fifth career NASCAR Nextel Cup victory in his 368th career start in the GFS Marketplace 400 at Michigan International Speedway.

The victory was Mayfield's second win at Evernham Motorsports, and his first career win at Michigan.

The win marked the first time in team history that two Evernham Motorsports teammates have each won a Nextel Cup race in the same season.

The win was also the first Dodge Charger victory at MIS since Richard Petty drove to the checkered flag in August, 1975.
