HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (November 2, 2005) -- The GM Goodwrench team will be racing with heavy hearts this weekend in Texas following the passing of John Paul Linville on November 1. Linville (62), father of DeLana Harvick, was a former NASCAR Busch Series driver with 136 starts. He most recently worked at Kevin Harvick, Inc. and was extremely close to both Kevin Harvick and his crew chief Todd Berrier.
Points of Interest...
* Chase for the Banquet...Harvick fell to 14th in NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series points following his 22nd place finish at Atlanta (Ga.) Motor Speedway. He now trails Jamie McMurray by 71 points for 11th place and the final seat at the NASCAR banquet in New York City. The 11th place finisher also receives a $1,000,000 bonus.
* Back in Black...Todd Berrier returns to the pit box for the GM Goodwrench team this weekend in Texas. Berrier sat out the last two events due to a two week NASCAR suspension. Interim crew chief Gil Martin will return to his role as crew chief for Clint Bowyer's ACDelco Chevrolet in the NASCAR Busch Series.
* What Ya' Haulin'...The GM Goodwrench transporter will unload chassis No. 134 at TMS. The car was raced at Atlanta Motor Speedway last weekend where Harvick finished 22nd. The chassis did score top-10 finishes at both Las Vegas Motor Speedway (fifth) and California Speedway (sixth).
* Last Spring's Samsung/RadioShack 500...Kevin Harvick got all he could out of the No. 29 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet finishing 13th at Texas Motor Speedway. It was Harvick's third straight top-15 finish at the 1.5-mile track. "The Goodwrench Chevy was tight early and then it just wouldn't get going early enough in the runs for me to go anywhere before we got all strung out," said Harvick. "The car was as fast as anybody towards the end of each run. I have to thank my GM Goodwrench crew. They kept me in it with the fast stops, but unfortunately it wasn't enough."
* TV and Radio - Start time for Sunday's Checkers 500 is 3:50 p.m. ET. Television coverage begins at 3:00 p.m. on NBC. MRN Radio and XM Radio 144 will begin their coverage at 3:30 p.m. Remember time and date may change, so check your local listings.
