Sam Hornish Jr. Qualifies 17th at Texas April 4, 2008
FORT WORTH, Texas (April 4, 2008) -- Sam Hornish Jr., driver of the Penske Racing No. 77 Mobil 1 Dodge Charger, will line up in the 17th starting position for the Samsung 500 at Texas Motor Speedway on Sunday.
The Mobil 1 team focused mainly on qualifying runs during practice on Friday. Just outside the top 35 in the owner points standings, this weekend marks the first time this season that the team has been required to qualify on time.
Hornish Jr. posted a fast lap time of 28.763 seconds at a speed of 187.741 miles per hour during qualifying on Friday afternoon securing the Mobil 1 team a 17th-place starting position.
"I always want to run better every time I'm on track," said Hornish Jr. "It was a difficult day today with the pressure of qualifying on time. After practice, we compared notes with our teammates and that really helped us in qualifying. I'm really proud of the Mobil 1 team for all of their hard work today."
