Texas is coming

The long awaited arrival of the inaugural race at the brand new Texas Motor Speedway is quickly approaching. Even with the "bugs" that the Texas Track has had there is still alot of anticipation for both driver and fan. Dale Earnhardt seems to be the most outspoken about the Texas troubles. ``It's treacherous,'' Earnhardt said after his test March 13. ``It's edgy getting into Turn 1 and (it's a) single lane off of Turn 4. The front straightaway is too narrow. And pit road is too narrow.'' What does Mr. Gossage say to that? ``Dale's a good guy,'' Gossage told a Fort Worth reporter. ``We're putting up a $3.8 million purse, we have a sold-out house and a live TV audience. If Dale Earnhardt doesn't want to race for it, I bet I'll find 40 other guys who will. I guarantee you Dale Earnhardt will be there.''

Dale wasn't the only driver to put the track under fire. Jeremy Mayfield echoed his sentiments by saying there is only one groove in the track and you had better stay in it. Come race day the talk will cease and the fun will begin. Early prediction for the race, I bet there are a bunch of cautions. The winner will truly deserve the victory.

Rusty Wallace led testing speeds there with a speed of 185.760 mph.
