"I feel really good about racing on road courses now. I've gotten some good tutoring, adjusted my driving and feel I've gotten a lot better. We've obviously gotten the cars better as well. The last time we ran at Watkins Glen, we were running a strong race but ended up breaking a transmission. At Sears Point earlier this year, we were running in the top-10 and broke a rear end gear. I know during the test session the No. 23 car did at VIR (Virginia International Raceway) they worked on brakes and transmissions, so I'm confident in our car this weekend. Hopefully, we go to Watkins Glen and not break anything, which should get us a top-five or top-10 finish."
- Ward Burton, driver of the Caterpillar Dodge, on Watkins Glen.

ON WATKINS GLEN: "Road course racing is not my background, but I've adjusted to it well over the years and I'm really confident in my road course driving ability," said Burton. "I always look forward to going there. It is a lot different track than Sears Point because Watkins Glen has high-speed corners versus the low speed corners at Sears Point, so that is always a challenge."

NEW YORK NATIVE: Tommy Baldwin, crew chief of the No. 22 CAT Dodge, hails from Bellport, New York.

"I'm really looking forward to getting back to Watkins Glen," said Baldwin. "The past couple years we have put the car in position have a top-five finish, but have suffered various problems that prevented a good finish. Track position and fuel mileage are key factors in the race. I always like getting back to racing in New York, being a native from there, I always enjoy racing in front of New York fans. Plus, the scenery there is beautiful and it will be a welcome change in climate after the hot race we had in Indy last week."

EQUIPMENT: The CAT race team is taking a car to Watkins Glen that competed earlier this year at Sears Point and competed last year at Watkins Glen. The car qualified 11th and 12th respectively and had strong runs both races before suffering mechanical failures.

TEAM NEWS:
* Burton spent the early party of the week prior to coming to 'The Glen' vacationing in the Bahamas with his family. Burton likes to have a family vacation prior to the children returning to school. "There never seems to be a great time to take a family vacation with our travel schedule," said Burton. "But my family is very important to me and we try to fit time together in whenever possible and I know we'll have a blast."
