Two-Thirds of the way thru the Cup season, we start the stretch drive this weekend at Darlington. With 22 races down and 10 to go, this is a good time to see who's been moving up, who's going south, and who's just floating along. Here are the point standings for the first 11 races, the second 11 races, and the current standings:

Just for the record, the first 11 races included 7 Super Speedways, 3 Short Tracks, & 1 Road Course....the second 11 included 9 Super Speedways, 1 Short Track, & 1 Road Course.

The guys on the improve are Ted Musgrave, Ken Schrader, Kyle Petty, Jeremy Mayfield, & Steve Grissom (discounting Ricky Craven who missed 2 races with injuries early in the season). Musgrave has improved the most positions in the standings since Race #11 (Charlotte) with a whopping 11 position gain....Petty has advanced 7 spots, Mayfield & Schrader 6 each, and Grissom has shown a 5 position improvement.

On the down side, it's a free-fall for Ward Burton, Bobby Hamilton, & Brett Bodine. Burton has fallen 10 spots since CMS, Hamilton & Bodine 9 each.

Time is running out for some of these guys to turn it around....and Darlington is not usually a place conducive to an about-face (of course, everything is gonna be turned around this weekend, so who knows).
