TIFFIN, OH (January 24) - Johnny Bridges, who will race for the World of Outlaws Support Series championship in 2000, will become the first sprint car driver to pace the Daytona 500 February 20th. Bridges, the 1998 USCS Rookie of the Year, will drive B&M Motorsports' sprint car around historic Daytona International Speedway just before the green flag falls on the NASCAR Winston Cup Series season opener. B&M Motorsports, of Cherryville, NC, is owned by Jeff McCall. Bryan Butterbush is the team's crew chief. McCall recently joined former Pennzoil World of Outlaws Series champion Dave Blaney to form Dave Blaney's Outlaw Driving Experience. The driving school, will feature a one-day program that includes 20 laps behind the wheel of a winged sprint car, at Lowe's Motor Speedway in Concord, NC. A two-seater sprint car will also be on hand for five laps with the "Sprint Car Ride Along" program. B&M Motorsports is also an official spokesman for the "Race Against Drugs" campaign, a substance prevention program for elementary students. The team speaks at Charlotte area schools about the dangers of drugs and helps give away scholarship money for student written essays.
