Ft. Worth, Texas (March 30, 1998)

After what should have been a top-five finish at Bristol Motor Speedway in the Moore's Snacks 250, NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender Blaise Alexander and Keystone Motorsports now have their sights set on Saturday's Coca-Cola 300 at Texas Motor Speedway.

This marks the team and Alexander's first visit to the speedway, but it is crew chief Al Cretsinger's second trip. In his first visit last year he guided Jimmy Spencer to a second-place finish and he hopes to duplicate that with Alexander.

"This place is a whole lot like Charlotte and then it isn't." Cretsinger said. "The corners are a lot tighter to get into than Charlotte and there really isn't a second groove here yet. I know they made some changes in the turns after last year's Cup race but I have not heard what effect they will have.

"He (Blaise) runs well at Charlotte and he should be good here. I know he felt a little down after Bristol, but that's racing and it is behind us. We accomplished quite a few of our goals in Bristol with the exception of the top finish."

Alexander has had top-five finishes in his past visits to Charlotte, when he was competing in ARCA. His last visit to CMS saw him qualify second, but an oil line let go forcing him to drop out of competition.

"I am looking forward to this race," Alexander said. "I love to run Charlotte and if this is similar to that then we will be in good shape. We know how to get around CMS and will apply what we know about that track to this one. Al has a good set-up for this place and Jimmy finished second here last year so we have every reason to expect a top finish.

"Yeah it was disappointing. We really wanted to come out of there (Bristol) with a top-five. We elected to stay out on the first set of pit stops and take the lead. During happy hour we ran on 100-lap tires and were very consistent so we knew we could stay up front. It's just short track racing, but the Rescue Engine Formula Monte Carlo led some laps and now we just have to be in a position during races to lead the critical lap, the last one."
