Fike Qualifies 17th At Lowe's Motor Speedway; Best Start Ever In Busch Race
- Strong Starting Position For The #43 Ollie's Bargain Outlet Curb-Agajanian Team -
CONCORD, NC (October 14, 2004) -- With a lap of 29.952 seconds at 180.288 MPH, Aaron Fike will start 17th in tomorrow night's "Lowe's Presents The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie 300" NASCAR Busch Series event. This is Aaron's best start ever in the challenging Busch Series, his previous being 20th at Nashville.
"There were a lot of good cars out here today," said Aaron, commenting on the 56 cars that attempted to qualify for tomorrow's race. "But I was sure we were going to make the race. The #43 felt great -- no wonder we qualified so well."
Crew chief Joe Shear is ready to repeat the Ollie's Bargain Outlet team's strong performance in the first 50 laps of last week's race at Kansas. "After our practice session today, I knew that we had a fast car," he said. Aaron was 7th fastest in practice today, with a lap of 30.065 seconds at 179.611 mph. Shear continued, "Aaron went out there tonight and put the hammer down. We're definitely looking forward to tomorrow night."
