JOLIET, IL (July 5, 2004)--Although Duraflame RWI Racing driver Billy Parker will be the first to admit that the 2004 season has not been as successful as he would have liked, the Denver, NC native is nonetheless optimistic heading into Saturday's Twister 300 at Chicagoland Speedway.

"This year's been one of ups and downs for sure. We've definitely showed some potential, especially at Las Vegas and California. Unfortunately, our performance just hasn't been as consistent as we'd like. That's something I know we're going to improve on in the second half of our seventeen-race schedule. The Busch Series is just so competitive and that makes it difficult. There are a ton of great teams over here, but I know that we're capable of being one of them."

Team owner, Rusty Wallace, agrees with Parker and sees Chicago as an opportunity for the team to see some success. "This team has great people and great equipment. We haven't run as well as we would have liked, but we're not quitters, we're not giving up. This whole sport revolves around communication and once we have that in place, we're going to win some races. This is too good of a team not to. Chicago is a relatively new track and it has a lot of grip. Because of the grip there, it should be a place that suits Billy's style well. I think it could be the start of good things for Duraflame RWI Racing."

Friday's 1:30 PM CST single round of qualifying will award all 43 starting positions for Saturday's 200 lap, 300 mile race. Friday's on-track activity also includes "Happy Hour," the final practice before Saturday's race, following NEXTEL Cup Series qualifying. Saturday's Tropicana Twister 300 has an 1:00 PM CST starting time and will be broadcast live on NBC at 2:00 PM EST and on MRN Radio, with radio coverage beginning at 2:15 EST.

NOTES OF INTEREST:

Beginning with the last race at Kentucky, Earl Barban has assumed the duties of chief spotter for Duraflame RWI Racing. Barban is also the race day spotter for Penske Racing and driver Rusty Wallace.

Billy Parker will appear at ESPN Zone in downtown Chicago, Sunday from 1-3 PM, for a VIP viewing of Sunday's NEXTEL Cup race. Fans can listen to ESPN Radio and US 99 for a chance to win passes to watch the race with Billy and get his autograph. The Duraflame show car will be on site and interviews will be available.
