Race Recap: The Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team came to Darlington with something to prove to the rest of the NASCAR Busch Series. Kenny Wallace and the No. 23 team brought the same car to Darlington that missed the race at North Carolina Speedway three weeks ago.

The first practice session went well for the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team, as Wallace posted the fourth fastest time. Wallace said the car felt good, but it had a tight handling condition as he exited turn two. Crew chief Chris Rice and the team felt they could correct the problem before the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger Chevrolet went out to qualify for the Diamond Hill Plywood 200.

Wallace was the 19th driver to attempt to qualify for Saturday's attempt. He posted a lap of 29.250 seconds, which placed him third for the race.

"I felt that we came here and had something to prove to the Busch Series teams," Wallace said after qualifying. "We missed the race in Rockingham and have had the proverbial monkey on our back ever since. I think that today's run will help us finally put Rockingham behind us and get us focused for tomorrows race."

After posting their best qualifying effort in two years, the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team prepared the car for the "Happy Hour" final practice session. Wallace climbed into the car and said right away the car felt good. A lap of 30.158 seconds put him fourth fastest, and the team felt they had a chance to run up front in Saturday's event.

When the race started, Wallace said the car felt good. On lap 19, he told Rice the car handled tight in turn two, but was good everywhere else. The caution flew for the first time two laps later, and on lap 24, Wallace brought the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger Chevy to the attention of his crew for four tires and fuel. The team also made an air pressure adjustment to help Wallace with the tight condition. The team had a quick pit stop, returning Wallace to the track in the third position.

Green flag racing resumed on lap 28, but Wallace began to lose positions on the track. He complained that the car was getting tight in the middle of corners, and Rice told him the crew would fix that condition on the next pit stop. The caution flew on lap 43, but Wallace and the leaders did not pit. The green flag flew again on lap 49 remained out until lap 74 when the caution flew for the third time. Wallace brought the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger Chevrolet into the pits on lap 77 to receive service from his team. They gave the car four fresh tires, two cans of racing fuel and a slight track bar adjustment to help Wallace get through the corners better. Wallace had the car in the eighth position for the lap 81 restart.

The race was slowed again on lap 97 for the fourth caution of the day. Wallace brought the car to the attention of the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team on lap 100 to receive four tires and fuel. He restarted the race on lap 104 in the 12th position. Throughout the latter part of the race, Wallace said the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger car had a soft push in the front end, which hindered him from getting through the corners properly. Wallace and the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team finished the day in the 12th position.

Next Event: The next event is Saturday March 27 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tenn. Wallace has more top-10 finishes than any other Busch Series driver at Bristol. The team tested at Bristol two weeks ago and feel that they have a chance for the win.
