CONGRATUALTIONS ARE IN ORDER: David and Diane Green recently announced that are expecting their second child. The Green's new bundle of joy will join Kaylie, the couple's daughter born on May 23, 1997. Diane is due in the spring.
CAPITOL WINDOWS AND DOORS JOIN AFG GLASS RACING TEAM FOR AUTOLITE FRAM 250: Capitol Windows and Doors, a new construction line for MI Home Products, joins the AFG Glass Racing team as an associate sponsor of the No. 34 Chevrolet Monte Carlo for Friday's Autolite Fram 250 NASCAR Busch Series race at Richmond International Raceway. Gratz, Pennsylvania-based MI Home Products was founded in 1947 when it began manufacturing screen products for home use. From its 11 fabrication plants across the United States, the company produces the highest quality products for residential and light commercial uses. The company built its first window in 1972 and has since expanded the product line to fulfill all of its customer's needs.
IMPROVEMENT IS DAVID GREEN'S GOAL FOR FINAL RACES OF 2000 SEASON: David Green, driver of the No. 34 AFG Glass Chevrolet Monte Carlo, would like to put much of the 2000 NASCAR Busch Series season behind him. The Owensboro, Kentucky native has just two top five and eight top 10 finishes in the first 25 races, a total that he would like to see improve in this season's homestretch. "When I think about it, all that comes to mind is that with all the things that have gone wrong with our team, everything should be behind us," said Green. "Whether that happens or not remains to be seen. Everything in the world has bit us and tried to throw us a curve. I hope we have gotten all of that stuff out if the way so we can have some good finishes and move into the top five in the point standings." Green is setting his sights high for the last seven races of the 2000 season, starting Friday at Richmond International Raceway with the Autolite Fram 250 Busch Series race. The AFG Glass team is bringing the same car used in the spring at Richmond, the same car Green piloted to a second place finish at Pikes Peak International Raceway in July. "I'm looking to get back on track at Richmond," said the 1994 Busch Series Champion. "The track has been good to me in the past. We're bringing the same car that we brought in the spring which is the same car we have our best finish of the year with. I'm looking forward to finishing strong, like this team is capable of."
DAVID GREEN USING ALLIANCE WITH HENDRICK MOTORSPORTS AS PREPARATION FOR BUSCH RACE: In March, Cicci-Welliver Racing and Hendrick Motorsports formed an alliance designed to enhance the performance of its NASCAR Busch Series organizations. As part of the agreement, the two organizations agreed to share aerodynamic, chassis and certain technical information as well as participate together in testing sessions. On several occasions, David Green, driver of Cicci-Welliver Racing's No. 34 AFG Glass Chevrolet Monte Carlo, has assisted Ricky Hendrick, Hendrick Motorsports driver in select Busch Series and Craftsman Truck Series events, during test sessions. This weekend at Richmond International Raceway, the Green-Hendrick duo plans to take full advantage of the alliance. In addition to competing in Friday's Autolite Fram 250 Busch Series event, Hendrick will pilot the No. 17 truck in Thursday's truck race at the 0.75-mile speedway. Green will be in attendance throughout the practice, qualifying and the race assisting Hendrick, but also to prepare himself for his race on Friday. "I'm going to help Ricky in any way I can to prepare for the races," said Green, the 1994 Busch Series champion. "However, I am also going to use this as an opportunity to see how the track has changed since the spring. I want the AFG Glass car as good as it can be, and a little help from someone else never hurt."
