ASHTON LEWIS, NO. 46 CIVIL AIR PATROL CHEVROLET:

"I can't wait to get to Dover. Dover and Bristol are my tracks that I love going to. It's just a track that you can get after it. You can still overdrive Dover since we've gone to these new tires. There are not many places that you feel the sensation of speed and I think Dover is even more so than Bristol. You know how fast you are going and that's what makes it so cool."

HOW ROUGH IS THE TRACK?

"I've always been on it since they worked on corners getting in and everybody said how bad they were and how much better they were since they worked on it. For me, it's never been that big of a transition. You feel the hump as you drop off in to the corner. That's one thing that we've always worked on is trying to keep the car where it's good and stable from that transition of leaving the straightaway and falling down into the corner and the banking. We've always felt like that if we can get it comfortable and I didn't have any worry or concern about it coming around from once I turned in the center of the corner I knew I could get after it from those two points we were going to be pretty good so that's what we always work on."

HOW FORGIVING OF A TRACK IS DOVER?

"There's enough room for it to be a little bit forgiving, but when you have a car that is moving around on you, you're not having fun at Dover (laughs)."

HOW HARD IS IT TO STAY OUT OF TROUBLE AT DOVER?

"That's been our nemesis so far. We've always been caught up on somebody else's wreck. Last year, I guess it was about five laps into it, we had that wreck with (Tim) Fedewa and somebody else coming off of four. We just got collected in it and there's nothing you can do. It's a lot like Bristol, being as fast as it is if something happens in front of you, you don't have a whole lot of time to react and make adjustments for it or if you do get an opportunity to check up somebody is going to run over the back of you. We've been unfortunate to get caught up in a bunch of stuff, but as long as you have a good racecar and do your homework and kind of play it smart you can finish them."

HOW DIFFICULT IS IT TO PIT AT DOVER?

"I always like caution stops better (laughs). It's not too bad. The entrance to pit road is so early in the banking it's not like Charlotte where you have more of a transition. Rockingham and Darlington are still the worst to have to pit under the green with as much marbles as they collect is not too bad. As long as everybody behind you knows that you are coming in this time you usually don't have a problem."

DOES CHOOSING A GOOD PIT STALL PUT EVEN MORE EMPHASIS ON QUALIFYING WELL AT DOVER?

"Usually if you are doing a green flag stop, I don't think where you are on pit road is that big of a concern. It's more the driver doing his job by coming off the racetrack and getting back on the racetrack and coming up to speed and doing that right and really getting after it and not losing time there. The guys can have a good solid pit stop and not have to worry about losing ground as long as the driver gets it in the pit stall good and gets out good."
