KESELOWSKI READY TO BATTLE THE 'MONSTER MILE' IN No. 88 NAVY CHEVROLET
* Brad Keselowski will drive the No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS in Saturday's NASCAR Busch Series Roadloans.com 200 at Dover International Speedway.
* Saturday will be Keselowski's second Busch start at Dover and his fourth overall start at the one-mile concrete oval. In June, driving the No. 23 for another team, Keselowski started 33rd and was running in the top 15 when the car's track bar broke. He hit the wall and was relegated to a 24th-place finish. In two previous Truck Series starts at Dover, Keselowski's best finish came in 2005 when he started 24th and ended the race in 15th position.
* The No. 88 JR Motorsports team's best finish in three starts at Dover is 30th and the team's average finish on one-mile tracks is 26.5.
* The Navy team will run Chassis No. JRM 027 this weekend at Dover. This is the same car that Keselowski drove to a seventh-place finish at Bristol in August.
* In seven starts for JR Motorsports, Keselowski has an average finish of 20.4. For the entire season, the team's average finish is 21.3. In 28 races this year, the team has scored one top-five and six top-10 finishes. The No. 88 Navy team is ranked 17th in the Busch Series owner point standings.
Brad Keselowski, Driver, No. 88 Navy Accelerate Your Life Chevrolet Monte Carlo
"I like Dover. I like it a lot. It suits my driving style. It's both physically and mentally challenging. It's very fast and we pull a lot of Gs there. Dover's a place that's very in-your-face like a bully, and much like dealing with a bully, the best way to attack it is to go straight at it. To get around Dover you've got to know who to race and when to race them, but you never know when the track's going to jump out and bite you. I guess that's why the call it the Monster Mile.
"Going into the weekend at Dover, I feel like the track owes me one this time around. Back in the Spring I was running in the top 15 in the No. 23 car with about 10 laps to go. Then the track bar broke and I wrecked and totaled the car. I'm looking for a much better finish as I head to Dover with the Navy team. "
Navy Notables
The fleet honoree for Saturday's race at Dover International Speedway is the USS Philadelphia. USS Philadelphia was the first Los Angeles class attack submarine built by the Electric Boat division of General Dynamics Corporation in Groton, Conn., to be delivered to the Navy. The ship's sponsor, Mrs. Hugh Scott, welded her initials into the keel of the USS Philadelphia at the keel laying ceremony. Since commissioning in 1977, USS Philadelphia has conducted five deployments to the Mediterranean Sea (1979, 1982, 1986, 1991-Desert Storm, 1999), a deployment to the Western Pacific (1980), five North Atlantic deployments (1983, 1992, 1996, 1997, 1999), and an Eastern Atlantic Deployment (1989). Philadelphia's crew has earned the following awards: Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation (Three awards), Battle Efficiency "E" Ribbon (Six awards), Southwest Asia Service Medal - Desert Storm, Ney Memorial Award for Outstanding Food Service (Two awards), "A" Award for Outstanding ASW Operations (Four awards), CINCLANTFLT Golden Anchor Award, CINCLANTFLT Silver Anchor Award (Two awards), Battenburg Cup Award as COMSUBLANT Nominee for Best All Around Unit, Communications Green "C" (Two awards), Tactical White "T" (Two awards), Damage Control Red "DC", Deck "D", Engineering Excellence "E" and the Supply Blue "E".
