DOVER, DE (September 20, 2003) -- Dover International Speedway is where the Yellow Racing "Making Friends Tour 2003" first began, in May. Driver David Stremme looked forward to returning to "The Monster Mile", but he couldn't foresee that Dover would once again take a bite out of the Team Yellow Dodge.

On lap 16, Stremme drove through some oil on the track and the Yellow Dodge slipped up the concrete surface. As Stremme valiantly fought to keep the car from hitting the wall, the No. 37 of David Green, who had hit the same oil just before Stremme, was also fighting to control his car. The cars touched and both came to rest on the inside wall. Although suffering limited damage, Stremme could not move because the car's reverse gear would not work.

Stremme was forced to wait for the safety crew to push him off the wall before he could make it to pit row for repairs. Returning to the track, the #1 car fell as far back as 35th position. By the end of the race, however, Stremme was able to battle to a 21st place finish. Brian Vickers won the race; Bobby Hamilton, Jr. was second and Scott Riggs rounded out the top three.

After the race, David Stremme recounted a weekend of strange events: "First off Hurricane Isabel made things difficult because we did not know early this week if we'd even run the race. By the time the decision was made to run the race Saturday, our flight was canceled, and we drove 10 hours to Delaware in the hurricane. That was an experience I don't care to repeat!

"Once we got to the track on Friday, we felt like we were in for a good weekend. There were no problems from the storm, and we knew we had a strong car. Practice was limited to Saturday morning, which is very strange for race day. Once again the guys had prepared a fantastic car. While we didn't look great on the time sheet, that's because we stayed on old tires to see what the car would do, while other teams put on new tires.

"When it was finally time to race, I was pumped up and ready to take on this track. In the first few laps, it became immediately apparent that this car was going to be strong all race. And it would have been, if it weren't for the oil on the track. I tried hard to keep from hitting anything, but you can't control where the other cars go. The team did a fantastic job of getting the car back on track quickly, but the wreck damaged the back end. I had to fight like heck all day after that to keep the car going. At the end, I thanked the guys for putting together a great car and then getting us back out so quickly. I am so proud of this team and what we are able to accomplish under any circumstances."

The Busch Series will be off next weekend, but Yellow Racing heads to Kansas City, the headquarters of primary sponsor Yellow Transportation, for a weeklong homecoming for Kansas City's home town NASCAR team. The Mr. Goodcents 300 at Kansas Speedway will take place on Saturday, October 4th. Driver Jamie McMurray will be behind the wheel. The race will air live on NBC and be broadcast on MRN beginning at 2:00 p.m. EDT. Qualifying will take place Friday, October 3rd at 2:30 p.m. EDT and will be aired on the Speed Channel.
