McLAUGHLIN LOOKS TO START A STREAK OF STRONG FINISHES IN DOVER

DOVER - The last three NASCAR Busch Series races have been anything but fun for Goulds Pumps driver Mike McLaughlin. Early race accidents in Bristol, Darlington and Richmond haven't led to many smiles from the Waterloo, NY native during the last month. The run of bad luck was topped off in Richmond, where a strong tap from behind sent McLaughlin into the wall and onto the hospital for a slight concussion.

"It has been a while since we have taken a checkered flag," McLaughlin said. "It seems we have been in the wrong place at the wrong time all season long, especially the last month. It's time for this streak of trouble to end and time for the Goulds Pumps Chevrolet to return to the lead pack."

Running in the lead pack is something McLaughlin is accustomed to. McLaughlin list several strong finishes at Dover Downs International Speedway on his resume, including three top-five finishes and a win in 1995. Dover may be just the track to start a steak of top finishes at.

"Dover has been good to this race team and to our team owners, Scott Welliver and Frank Cicci," McLaughlin said. Those guys have been to Victory Lane four times here and I would like to make it five times for them. I want to go out on a high note with Frank and Scott and winning a race or two would take care of that for us."

McLaughlin and the #34 Goulds Pumps Chevrolet will take the green flag at 1:00pm Saturday afternoon. TNN and MRN will provide live coverage of the racing action.

PIT NOTES

Ø Mike McLaughlin will make his 145th consecutive NASCAR Busch Series start this weekend, the longest streak among active drivers.
