Yellow Racing Driver David Stremme knows there's no place like home

SPARTANBURG, SC (July 29, 2003) -- A couple of months ago, driver David Stremme had the opportunity to go home for a weekend. His father asked him if he was learning a lot in the Busch series. David told him stories about some of the things he's learned. When he finished, his father replied, "That's great David, now go mow the lawn." There's no place like home.

Home is South Bend, Indiana, which is about 200 miles north of Indianapolis Raceway Park (IRP). This weekend IRP will play host to hundreds of Stremme's family and friends. It will be a unofficial reunion for many of his short track racing friends who will come to cheer Stremme on and see one of their own who has found racing success. There's no place like home.

IRP is one of the few tracks on the Busch circuit that Stremme has experience on. Some great experiences actually, since he has raced there five times and won three. He also tested at IRP recently. When you add it all up, Stremme stands a great chance of making personal history with his first Busch series win at his home track. There's no place like home.

With the release of the "Yellow Racing -- Making Friends Tour 2003" t-shirts last weekend, Stremme hopes that he does not have any reasons to hand t-shirts out after the race. Stremme said, "I really like giving the t-shirts out to guys who are my friends more than I like giving them out to someone I have had an altercation with. You never want to be involved in incidents on the track, it hurts your chances of winning the race." The t-shirts are available to the public at the Yellow Racing trackside souvenir trailer.

In talking about IRP Stremme said, "It's nice for me to finally be going someplace that I already know how to drive; I just have to focus on the car. I am so excited about racing there again. I will have more family and friends supporting me than I can count!

"A win this weekend would mean more than I can describe. It was something that I looked at when we sat down to plan the driving schedule. It is a race where I have a really comfortable feeling coming in and a lot of confidence because I have raced there. I used to think this place was a really big track, but after running Kentucky and Nashville, I realize it is a short, but still pretty fast, track."

Perhaps if Stremme clicks his heel cuffs together three times he will pilot the No. 1 Dodge to victory lane.

The Kroger 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park will be aired live on TNT and broadcast live on MRN beginning at 8:00 p.m. EDT Saturday, August 2. Qualifying for the event will take place Saturday, August 2 at 4:35 p.m. EDT and will be aired on the Speed Channel.
