Harvick dominates in second-place effort at New Hampshire
LOUDON, N.H. (July 19) - Kevin Harvick drove the PayDay Chevrolet to a second-place finish at the New Hampshire International Speedway. Harvick started on the pole for the event and dominated the race, leading 152 of 200 laps. Harvick held the point until lap 155, when David Green passed Harvick for the lead.
Harvick made several late-race charges at Green, but he was unable to complete the pass. Green won the event, followed by Harvick and Matt Kenseth. Green's win is his second of the year. Green has passed the PayDay Chevrolet for the win on both occasions.
"We were really good all day long," Harvick said after the race. "At the end we just got really tight. If we could've swapped segments of the race, we might have won. It was still a real good day overall." When the race started, Harvick wasted no time, setting sail with a five-second lead at one point. After radio silence during the opening laps, Harvick reported to the crew around lap 33 that the car was "pretty good."
Harvick didn't feel pressure for the lead until late in the race. The challenge came from PayDay Racing teammate Johnny Sauter, who was driving the No. 43 car in this event. Sauter took over the lead for a short period until he was forced to pit. Harvick regained the lead, and he did not feel pressure again until Green's lap 155 pass.
The PayDay team gave Harvick great pit stops all day long, and returned Harvick to the racing surface each time with his position intact. The PayDay team remains the top-ranked unit in the team standings, leading Green's team by 74 points. The Busch Series travels to the Pikes Peak International Raceway for the July 26 TrimSpa Dream Body 250. Live TV coverage on NBC begins at 3:30 p.m. EDT. The MRN radio network will also broadcast live at 3:30 p.m. EDT.
