BUSCH: Mike McLaughlin Myrtle Beach Notes

McLAUGHLIN HOPES TO CONTINUE MYRTLE BEACH SUCCESS

MYRTLE BEACH, SC --- Goulds Pumps driver Mike McLaughlin heads to Myrtle Beach Speedway this Saturday night with hopes of continuing his run of strong finishes at the tough .538 mile speedway. McLaughlin has recorded four straight top-ten finishes, including a 2nd and a 3rd place finish the last two seasons. Those finishes haven't come without a little bit of work though. In 5 starts, McLaughlin has never qualified inside the top ten at Myrtle Beach Speedway.

"We have a pretty strong track record at Myrtle Beach," McLaughlin said. "If we can figure out how to qualify this year, maybe we can find victory lane at the end of the night."

After suffering through a roller coaster type season so far this year, McLaughlin believes the bad luck is now behind him. McLaughlin is hoping his third place finish at Watkins Glen two races ago and his 11th place finish in Milwaukee last race are the start of a long streak of top finishes. With a run of strong finishes, McLaughlin is hoping to improve on his present 8th place standing in the NASCAR Busch Series.

"We are only 175 points away from 5th place right now, after the run of bad luck we had that's hard to believe," McLaughlin said. "I believe we can win some races and make it back into the top-five before the year is out."

PIT NOTES

Mike McLaughlin, along with other racing friends will ride their Harley-Davidson's from Charlotte to Myrtle Beach on Thursday morning. McLaughlin rode his Harley-Davidson earlier this month to Watkins Glen.

The Goulds Pumps Racing Team spent two days last week testing at Gateway International in preparation for racing action there on July 31st.

Goulds Pumps transporter driver Leroy Treadwell is looking forward to the short 3 ½ hour drive to Myrtle Beach this weekend. Over the last month Treadwell has driven the Goulds Pumps race transporter to Watkins Glen, NY (twice), Milwaukee, WI, and St Louis, MO.
