MAGIC SHOES LOOKS TO TAKE HIS BLUE SUEDE SHOES TO VICTORY LANE IN MEMPHIS

MEMPHIS--- Don't look now, but those shoes that have made Mike "Magic Shoes" McLaughlin into one of the top drivers in the NASCAR Busch Series, they are the same color and material made famous by one former Memphis resident, the late Elvis Presley. Yes, "Blue Suede Shoes." Elvis made himself a legend singing such tunes as; Blue Suede Shoes, Love Me Tender, and Jailhouse Rock. Mike McLaughlin hopes to borrow some of Elvis' magic this weekend as he aims for Victory Lane in the Sam's Town 250 at Memphis Motorsports Park.

"I always remembered listening to Elvis growing up and hearing about Graceland and Memphis," McLaughlin said. "It's going to be neat to go there for the first ever Busch Series race in Memphis, hopefully we can put our names in the record book as the first winner."

McLaughlin will rely on his short-track ability as he guides the Goulds Pumps Chevrolet around the .750 mile short track. McLaughlin has produced a number of top-finishes on tracks similar in size to Memphis, including wins at New Hampshire International and Nashville Speedway.

"I feel confident heading into this race. Outside of Richmond, this race team has had a lot of success over the years on short track,"" McLaughlin said. "The key to this weekend is going to be for us to have a strong qualifying effort, we have struggled with that area for two months now. We will focus on qualifying a little more this weekend in hopes that we can put the Goulds Pumps Chevrolet in the top-five on Saturday afternoon."

Mike "Magic Shoes" McLaughlin will strap on his Blue Suede racing shoes Sunday afternoon and aim for his sixth career Busch Series win. In case he does reach Victory Lane, watch out Beale Street, one happy race team will be headed your way for a Halloween / Victory Party!
