The Team: #59 Kingsford/Johnsonville Chevrolet, Busch Grand National Series Division

The Race: Saturday, April 13, 2002 -- PEPSI 300 at Nashville Superspeedway in Nashville, Tenn.-- 225 laps/300 miles.

The Track: This will be the first of two visits the NASCAR Busch Series will make to Nashville this season, the next being June 8th. Nashville Superspeedway is 1.333 miles in length, with 14 degrees of banking in the corners, 9 degrees of banking on the front straightaway and 6 degrees banking on the back straightaway.

TV/Radio: FX 3:00 pm ET / MRN 3:00 pm ET

Compton at Nashville: Compton is new to Nashville Superspeedway but by no means new to Nashville. He raced from 1997 to 1999 at Nashville Speedway USA short track as a driver in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. In three starts he scored one top-5 and one top-10 finish. Since the Winston Cup Series will be in Martinsville this weekend, Compton will be dividing his time between the two tracks. Former NASCAR Winston Cup West Champion Mike Chase will be qualifying the #59 car for Compton on Friday. According to NASCAR rules, Compton will have to start the Busch Series race at the end of the race line regardless of qualifying position.

Compton on Nashville: "We're pretty excited about this weekend. The Kingsford/Johnsonville car has been good everywhere we've been and I expect it to be good at Nashville. We tested in Nashville and the car had an excellent set-up and was strong late in the test session. I'm not excited about starting in the rear, but if I can avoid the accidents I think I can work my way to the front and be competitive."

Crew Chief's Comments: "We tested at Nashville in March and were very good. As a matter of fact, Stacy ran 15 laps of practice and told us to put the car back on the truck. The car is the same one we took to Texas last weekend. It qualified tenth and was solid all day. Nashville Superspeedway has a lot of grip and is going to be much faster this year." Steve Plattenberger

Last Season at Nashville: Greg Biffle was the winner with a margin of victory of 0.602 over Jason Keller. Kevin Harvick was the polesitter. There were 11 cautions for 58 laps and 15 lead changes among 10 drivers.

Double Duty: Compton is also running the full NASCAR Winston Cup Series schedule in the No. 14 Conseco Pontiac owned by A.J. Foyt Racing. Last week in Texas he qualified 6th and finished in 19th-place.
