Notes & Quotes
Casey Mears' Thoughts On Nazareth Speedway... "I like the track because it's different. We're going to a track where I've raced before, and that is always helpful. Nazareth is challenging because both ends of the track have their own unique characteristics. It's tough to pass there, but I'm looking forward to going back."
Been There Before... Mears has competed at Nazareth Speedway three times in his racing career while driving in the Indy Lights Series. He posted two top-five finishes in three starts in the open-wheel division.
Just Down The Road... After retiring from Team Penske as a driver following the 1992 season, Casey Mears' uncle Rick still remains active with Penske Racing's IRL operations serving as team advisor/consultant and as spotter for driver Gil de Ferran on race day. Penske Racing is located in nearby Reading, Pa., a mere 50 miles from Nazareth Speedway.
Crew Chief Donnie Richeson's Thoughts On Nazareth Speedway... "Some people say Nazareth has three turns and others say it has five, but either way all of the turns are different. You have to be able to compromise with the setup of the car. I've always had better success setting up the car for coming off the last turn, down the front straightaway and through the dogleg than anywhere else on the track. It seems like if you can get the car to work through that area of the track, you have a much better chance of posting a good finish."
The Equipment... "Chumley" is the car the Phillips 66 team will compete with this weekend in the "Stacker 2 '200' " at Nazareth Speedway. "Chumley" is the same car the Phillips 66 team raced last weekend in New Hampshire and finished 17th with.
