BUSCH: P. J. Jones ready for Michigan

Team Comes to Michigan with Full Arsenal: With many Winston Cup drivers expected to qualify for the "NAPA online.com 250," Busch teams must arrive doubly-prepared for battle. "We're bringing everything we've got to hold our own this weekend," commented driver, PJ Jones. "We've got a new car, a new motor and an energized pit crew and driver. We've qualified for the last nine races in a row, and qualifying for the tenth will be our number one priority. The qualifying and race set-ups are extremely different at Michigan, so every moment of practice is important."

Church Marks Anniversary at Michigan:
George Church, crew chief for the #19 Yellow/Pameco team, marks his one year anniversary as a Busch Series crew chief when he returns to Michigan this weekend. "I had been racing in trucks for a few years before Jimmy Spencer brought me on board," Church recalled. "I quickly learned how important the motor is at Michigan. The motor maintains such a high r.p.m. range for the entire lap, you've got to keep a close eye on your temp's. We did well at this track last year, finishing eighth. It would be great to leave here on Saturday recording another top-ten."

Jones Would Win TV Show, "Survivor":
PJ Jones had the opportunity to compete in this past weekend's "Global Crossing" Winston Cup race at Watkins Glen. Even though his qualifying lap placed him third fastest among those who had been out on the track, the time and position were erased when rain cancelled the remainder of qualifying. Then, early on in the race, cars ahead checked up to avoid a wreck and Jones tagged Tony Stewart from behind. The damaged hood of the #01 Chevy caused the engine to overheat. Did any of this stop Jones? No. He finished 21st and on the lead lap. "I've faced everything this season," Jones said. "If I can survive making it through some of the challenges I've experienced on the track, I'm sure I could eat bugs. Now, if we could only get NASCAR to offer 'immunity' like they do on the show . . ."

The "NAPA online.com 250" will be broadcast live on ESPN and MRN on Saturday, August 19 at 12:00 noon eastern.
