Blake Mallory To Pilot No. 39 Jay Robinson Racing Entry At Phoenix

"Veteran Team Impressed With Rookie Driver"

Wednesday, October 29th, 2003 (Charlotte, North Carolina) - - Jay Robinson, CEO/Owner of NASCAR Busch Series team Jay Robinson Racing was so impressed with the driving abilities and class of World of Outlaws driver Blake Mallory, he again has asked the 23 year-old to pilot his second team car this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway.

"I'm impressed with Blake," said Jay. "Blake shows a lot of maturity and even though we did not have any luck at Atlanta, he proved a lot while the finish didn't."

Mallory, over the past seven years, has shown his strength and talent by running races in IMCA Dirt Sprint cars, Legend cars, American Truck Race Series and the IMCA Modifieds, collecting 36 feature wins.

Last year, Blake made his debut in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series at Indianapolis Raceway Park and Phoenix, finishing 21st and 27th respectively. His racing career began at the age of 12 driving go-karts, where he collected 11 wins in the four-cycle dirt circuit and WKA (World Karting Association) before reaching his 16th birthday.

"Running in the NASCAR Busch Series is a great opportunity for me and especially with Jay Robinson Racing," commented driver Blake Mallory. "I would like to run more events with the team in the future, but we need a sponsor to do so."

Mallory, a native of Joshua, Texas is a rookie in the NASCAR Busch Series. As the 2003 racing season draws to a close the former NCTS driver already has three starts to his credit this year. In Milwaukee earlier this year, Blake maneuvered his No. 39 Three Stooges Beer Ford Taurus to a 32nd place finish, after starting 30th.

A few events later he switched teams to the No. 22 Bost Motorsports entry and started the Mr. Goodcents 300 race from Kansas from the 42nd position, and finished an improved, but distant 37th.

In his last outing, he returned to JRR (Jay Robinson Racing) driving the No. 39 Mallory Western Wear Ford Taurus. The team struggled most of the weekend, but was able to gain the final starting position for the Aaron's 312 from Atlanta Motor Speedway, giving the "young gun" some more seat time.

Engine problems continued for the team from the drop of the green flag and within 30 circuits the former late model driver had to bring his Ford Taurus machine to the garage.

As the NASCAR Busch Series heads to Phoenix this weekend, Blake would like to surpass his NASCAR Craftsman Truck result from one year ago with a top twenty finish.

"I think we can have a good weekend," he mentioned. "We need a little luck on our side and if we can qualify for the event, we'll play it smart and try to reach for the best finish possible."

Last weekend, Blake replaced the vacant seat of the No. 39, which had been driven by Busch Series rookie Jamie Mosley. Mosley, a former veteran in the ARCA RE/MAX Series driver will be driving for the newly formed Kentucky Motorsports in 2004.

The Bashas' Supermarket 200 is set for this Saturday, November 1st, 2003 from Phoenix International Raceway. A strong field of 43 competitors is expected for the 32nd event of the 2003 NASCAR Busch Series season. The green flag will fly shortly after 3:00 PM, EST with live television coverage on TNT with MRN handling the radio waves.
