BRISTOL, TN --- Home field advantage? That may work in basketball and football, but NASCAR racing? Clarksville, TN native Jeff Purvis is hoping for some home cooking as the NASCAR Busch Series heads to Bristol Motor Speedway for the Cheez-It 250 on Saturday afternoon. Purvis brings a streak of two straight top-ten finishes into the 250 lap war as well as an 8th place standing in the Busch Series Points race.

"We are looking for a really good weekend of racing in Bristol, It's a tough place but I know Doug Richert (crew chief) will give me a great car," Purvis said. "Last time there we qualified near the back, but fought hard all day and ended up with a seventh place finish. Hopefully we can qualify up front and stay there all day on Saturday."

Purvis enters the race in a completely different mood from one year ago. Last year entering the first Bristol race, Purvis was in 35th place in the point standings and had just failed to qualify for the Darlington race. This year, Purvis and the MBNA team stands in 8th place and has run well at every race this year.

"I have to give a lot of credit to Doug Richert for turning our program around," Purvis said. "Doug came in during the middle of the year last year and seemed to instantly turn our program around. Everyone in the Joe Gibbs Racing Organization has worked their hardest to make this team a contender each and every week."

Purvis knows Bristol would be a great place for the first win of the year in front of many friends and family members.

"I always seem to get a little more excited when I race in Tennessee," Purvis said. "It would be nice to take the MBNA Pontiac to Victory Lane on Saturday right in front of all the Tennessee racing fans."
