ROARING V-8's RETURN TO MID-ATLANTIC BUSCH SERIES RACING WHEN RICHMOND HARDEE'S FRISCO 250 TAKES 1995 NASCAR GREEN FLAG ON SATURDAY, MARCH 4TH

RICHMOND, VA - When NASCAR throws the green flag on Rihcmond International Raceway's Hardee's Frisco 250 Busch Series Grand National race come Saturday, March 4 to open its mid-Atlantic racing season, fans will hear something new, but old. What they'll hear at Richmond is the throaty bellow of Detroit's V-8 powerplants, rather than the shrill, high pitched whine of six cylinder engines.

Although the V-8 rule is new for 1995 in NASCAR's Grand National series, it actually marks the return of the series to its roots in the pre-1982 Late Model Sportsman division. A look at Rihcmond's record book turns up such V-8 powered LMS winners at Paul Sawyer's speed plant as legends Ray Hendrick, Sonny Hutchins, and Butch Lindley.

Said former Daytona 500 winner Derrike Cope during recent Richmond testing, "They sound like real race cars again. It's more exciting for the fans in the stands."

Cope is just one of many NASCAR stars who've announced they'll pull double duty at Richmond by attempting to the win the pole for both the Saturday Hardee's Frisco 250 and Sunday Pontiac Excitement 400 during Fas Mart Pole Day time trials at Richmond on Friday, March 3.

Adult grandstand tickets for the Saturday, March 4 Hardee's Frisco 250 at Richmond are just $30. Fans should watch television and newspaper ads announcing money saving discount offers. Friday Fas Mart Pole Day grandstand admission is $5. Children 12 and under go free both days with a ticket holder. Call 804/345-RACE for information.
