Rockingham Speedway - February 21, 2003 - After an impressive showing in the Koolerz 300 at Daytona, JCR3 Racing and Driver Jeff Fultz are looking to keep the momentum going at Rockingham and prove their performance was a sign of things to come. The team will field the # 86 C&C Boilers Chevrolet without additional sponsorship for the race but feel they're as much of a threat as anyone on the circuit.
"We probably spent a tenth of what some of the bigger teams did for Daytona but we've known all along what we lack in funding is more than made up for with talent and hard work," said JCR3 Program Director Chris Young. "We know we can run a number of races without additional funding but after Daytona we didn't know which ones those would be. It's a difficult situation because we don't want to throw away the points we scored with a top 20 especially if sponsorship were to come along. It only makes sense we would try and follow it up with another strong run. Hopefully we can do at least as well at Rockingham and attract some attention and the needed funding."
For Fultz it's an opportunity to showcase the driving skills that propelled him to NASCAR's All Pro Championship last season. The Daytona experience was positive but he's anxious to tackle a track that puts more pressure on the driver.
"Daytona is an exciting place to race but I think success there is more dependent on equipment and missing the big wrecks," Fultz said. "For a driver at Daytona you just put it to the floor and hang on. My crew made the car great, I just turned left.
Rockingham will be our first opportunity to really get down and race. Everything is a factor at Rockingham, from working traffic to pit stops. I'm really looking forward to it."
In the All Pro Series JCR3 was tough to beat in competition combining all the elements of racing. By applying the same principles at Rockingham they should be rock steady.
