"SCOUTING A SEAT" TAKES ON NEW MEANING AT COCA-COLA 300

FORT WORTH-DALLAS (Jan. 27, 1999) - For the second year in a row, Texas Motor Speedway, in cooperation with Coca-Cola and the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts of America, is offering Scouts and troop leaders free admission to the Coca- Cola 300 NASCAR Busch Series race on Saturday, March 27. The Coca-Cola Scouts Day will allow Boy and Girl Scouts to attend the Coca- Cola 300 which will feature Winston Cup champ Jeff Gordon taking on 1998 Busch Series champion Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Other top NASCAR Winston Cup drivers expected to compete in the Coca-Cola 300 are Mark Martin, Jeff Burton, Terry Labonte, Ken Schrader, Jimmy Spencer and Kenny Irwin, Jr., the 1998 NASCAR Winston Cup rookie of the year. "We offered this program last year to local Boy and Girl Scouts, said speedway general manager Eddie Gossage. "We thought it would be great this year to open it up to all Scouts wherever they may be. I know the kids who attended last year's Coca-Cola 300 had a good time and saw a great race." Scout Councils can request the order form from the speedway by calling (817) 215-8500. The request must come from the Council. Individual troops may then fill out copies of the form and submit it prior to the Feb. 15 deadline. The special offer is not available to walk-ups on race day. In addition to troop members, troop leaders are also eligible for free admission. Additional adult tickets for those accompanying the Scout troops are available for a discounted price of $10 apiece for regular $25 seats. Any additional child tickets, other than the Scouts, are available for $5 each. Troop leaders are urged to contact their respective Council headquarters for further information on Coca-Cola Scout Day at Texas Motor Speedway.
