Race Recap: Kenny Wallace and the Stacker 2 team entered St. Louis with some confidence. After two solid top-10 efforts, the team felt as if it was finally coming together. The Charter 250 was especially important for St. Louis native Wallace because he had friends and family at the track.
The Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team was fast from the start of the day. During the first practice session, Wallace said that the car handled a little tight, but crew chief Chris Rice said he would fix the handling before qualifying. Wallace was second fastest in the second practice session and said he had a shot to win the pole.
"We had a very fast race car," he said. "It was a little on the loose side, but Rice will fix that before I go out to qualify."
The Stacker 2/YJ Stinger car was one of the later cars to qualify, giving the No. 23 team a good chance to scope out the competition. Wallace qualified 13th with a time of 33.820 seconds.
"The car was way too loose down in [turns] one and two," Wallace said of his qualifying effort. "We had to set up the car that way because we do not get another practice to get the car ready for the race. I am not worried. The car will be very good under the lights tonight."
Wallace and the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team were poised to win the race barring any mistakes. Wallace began moving to the front of the field once the green flag flew. On lap 22, Wallace commented that the car was handling tight in the center of the turns, a condition Rice said would be fixed during the first pit stop.
Wallace moved to 11th by lap 50, but his tight condition only worsened. When the caution flag flew on lap 60, the Stacker 2/YJ Stinger team took the opportunity to pit. The No. 23 car received four tires, fuel, and track bar and air pressure adjustments on lap 63.

Wallace brought the car to pit road, but Rice elected to take the car behind the wall. The team's day ended on lap 87 due to an engine failure.
"Bill Davis gives me great equipment every weekend," Wallace said. "Part failures happen. I am disappointed because we had a great car, but I am now ready to go to Richmond."
NEXT EVENT: The No. 23 team will be in Richmond, Va., this Friday night to race under the lights at Richmond International Raceway. The race can be seen live on FX. Check local listings for times
