RON YOUNG SOLID IN RETURN TO TRACK
"Driver Nabs Top 20 Finish"

MADISON, ILLINOIS (August 1, 2005) -- It has been a long time -- almost two years to be exact -- since Ron Young last competed in a NASCAR Busch Series event. Despite the long term absence, the Conyers, Georgia native returned to the track and brought his No. 71 WS Hotel & Spa Chevrolet home with a solid 19th place finish on Saturday night in the running of the Wallace Family Tribute 250 at the Gateway International Raceway.

"We did what we set out to do in our return to the track and that was to qualifying for the field and finish on the lead lap," said Ron. "Of course I wish we could have been a little better but that is only natural. Our pit stops hurt us a little tonight but that is going to happen in this series unless you are out here competing and doing those stops every week. We made the car better with each stop we made so we had things going in the right direction. My crew chief (Greg Tester) and the guys worked real hard all weekend and I am thankful for all of their efforts. The competitive side in me just wishes we had a little better run but the realistic side in me acknowledges that this was a good return to the track."

Ron qualified for the race in the 22nd position with a qualifying lap of 33.904 seconds for a speed of 132.727 mph. The drop of the green flag for the 200-lap event would see Ron and his No. 71 machine drop back in the field a little bit as he took a few laps to get his rhythm. Ron would go on the hang in the top 30 for the first half of the race as his crew adjusted on the Chevrolet during yellow flag pit stops.

The second 100 laps of the event would see Ron turn some of his best laps of the evening as he worked his way inside the top 20 in the late stages of the event. The race ended with the crowd pleasing green/white/checkered finish and saw Ron just getting nudged for position at the line -- but still coming home with a solid 19th place finish.

"There is not doubt that it is nice to be back racing in the Busch Series," stated Young. "It has been a long absence and something I hope I do not have to go through again any time soon. It looks like we are going to pick about three or four more races to do yet this season and then see what type of sponsorship program we can get for the entire 2006 season. I have never run a full season in the Busch Series and I want that opportunity. I think we have shown each time we race that we are one of the best un-sponsored race programs out there and hopefully someone will see our potential and want to go full-time racing with us next season."
