#35 SCANA/POWERTEL RACE TEAM Notes and Quotes Pikes Peak 250 Pikes Peak International Raceway, Pikes Peak, CO. 1-mile oval, 10 degree banking Race 20 of 32- NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division July 24, 1999-Race time- Saturday, 3:00 p.m. ET, broadcast on ESPN and MRN

Lyndon Amick, who has driven the No. 35 entry in 13 events earlier this season, finds himself back behind the wheel of the SCANA/Powertel entry this weekend for the second week in a row, following a two-race absence. This year's event marks Amick's first trip to Pikes Peak International Raceway. Amick and his team ran a limited schedule of 12 races in 1998, choosing not to compete in the inaugural Pikes Peak event Elliott Sadler will make his debut in the No. 35 car next weekend at the July 31st Carquest Auto Parts 250 at Gateway International Raceway. Sadler is scheduled to drive in 11 Busch races this season for Team Amick Motorsports. Amick will drive the No. 35 in the two events that conflict with Sadler's Winston Cup schedule, July 24th in the Pikes Peak 250 at Pikes Peak International, and August 6th in the Kroger 200 at Indianapolis Raceway Park. He will drive the No. 88 as a second team car in selected events during the remainder of the season, with those dates to be announced.

Crew Chief Brad Pickens: On getting ready for Team Amick's first trip to Pikes Peak: "Elliott (Sadler) came by the shop earlier this week and talked to us about his experiences out here. He looked over the setup we were planning on using, and made some suggestions as to the adjustments he thought we might want to make. We feel pretty good about our race package, because how we set up the car prior to Elliott talking to us was pretty close to what he felt we needed to run out here."

On similarities between Pikes Peak International Raceway and other tracks: "We've been told that Pikes Peak is very similar to the Las Vegas track, with the exception that Las Vegas is about a half-mile longer. We qualified third at Vegas, so with a similar setup we hope to start near the front here as well. We brought a different car here than we had at Vegas, but the two cars are practically identical, so we think that we can get dialed in for qualifying. It's always a guessing game when you go to a new track, but we've got some great advice and great people to work on the cars' setup."

Driver Lyndon Amick: On his first trip to Pike's Peak: "Going to a new track is always a double-edged sword. I really like learning how to drive on new tracks, but it can also be very nerve-wracking if the car's not handling right. I've heard Pikes Peak is a little like Richmond, but every driver forms their own opinions about a track after they've run on it. I'm sure after I get a few laps under my belt, I'll probably have a different take on it than some of the drivers I've talked to. It should be interesting, to say the least."

On preparing to drive Pikes Peak: "I'll do what I usually do, and that's to race on the track in my 'NASCAR '99' video game. It's amazing how close the track layouts in the game compare to the way these tracks actually look. Playing the game doesn't completely prepare you for what you experience in the car by any means, but at least I have some idea of what to expect. It sure beats just going by what other drivers have told me."
