· Elliott Sadler has been reunited with the man who served as crew chief for all of Sadler's Busch Series victories, Sandy Jones. Jones is now in his second week as the crew chief for Team Amick Motorsports. Prior to joining the Team Amick organization, Jones was a crew chief at Dale Earnhardt, Inc., working on the No. 16 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series entry of Ron Hornaday.
· Even though it's only 40 miles from his hometown, Richmond is one track where Sadler doesn't necessarily feel at home. In his Busch Series career there, he has only finished on the lead lap once. His best finish is a 13th place. He did that twice, once in the spring of 1996, and again in the fall race of 1998.
· Sadler has competed in 13 Busch Series events this season. Ten of those races he drove as a substitute for Andy Santerre, who was sidelined with a broken leg in the first race of the season. In the spring race at Richmond this year, Sadler drove the No. 47 Monro Muffler and Brake Chevrolet for Santerre, starting 14th and finishing 35th. · Plans call for Sadler to drive the No. 35 in all the remaining races on the Busch Series schedule in 1999.
Sandy Jones, Crew Chief: On Richmond International Raceway: "Richmond is a track that Elliott and I have never been able to get a grip on. We've tried a lot of different things, and we've certainly figured out what not to do here. We've tested here, but we still struggle. Maybe we can figure it out this weekend."
Elliott Sadler, Driver: On Richmond: "Anytime I get to race close to home, it's exciting. I only live about 40 miles from the track, and it's always special to be racing in front of my friends and family."
On reuniting with Sandy Jones: "It's great to be back with Sandy. He and I just seem to know what the other one is thinking when it comes to setting up the cars. He's helped me get where I am today, and I respect his opinion. We've had some success together, and hopefully we can get the old magic back this weekend. It would be great to win one in my home state, with friends and family watching."
