TIM FEDEWA PIKES PEAK INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY JULY 24, 1999
As the NASCAR Busch Series, Grand National Division travels west to Colorado Springs, Colo., Fedewa and the No. 36 Stanley Racing team are hungry for a strong run and a good finish. The team and driver have visited the Pikes Peak International Raceway only one time before in June of 1998. Fedewa was off to a strong run at the speedway, qualifying in the 12th position and working his way up to fifth, when he was involved in a multi-car accident in turn four of the racetrack. "We have only been here once before and therefore don't have a lot of notes for the racetrack," Fedewa said. "But all of the other teams have only been there one other time also. I had qualified pretty well last year, but we ended up running even better than we qualified. I had the car up to fifth or sixth and it was running good, the setup was right where we needed it to be. Unfortunately, I ended up in an accident and it ended my day early." This year we have a car with a new body that Charlie (Brunnhoelzl) put together for me for Pikes Peak International Raceway. I really like the work that he does for us and have a lot of confidence in him and his ability. Our setup will be from what notes we have and then with the extra practice time that the speedway is giving us, we should be able to tune the car in." Cicci-Welliver Racing will unload the same car for the NO. 36 Stanley Racing team at Pikes Peak International Raceway that Fedewa last drove at Richmond International Raceway in the spring. The car was involved in an accident at Richmond and has undergone reconstructive surgery on the body. The No. 36 Stanley Racing machine will be powered by a Fischer motor this weekend at Pikes Peak International Raceway. "This is a track sort of like a smaller version of California Speedway," said John Fabian, car chief for the No. 36 Stanley Racing Machine. "You have to set the car up with dimensions that will work on a short track with superspeedway stretches. Tires are also a factor at this track."
