Mooresville, NC (6-30-08) NASCAR Nationwide series driver Robert Richardson, Jr. will head to 'The World Center of Racing' this week to make his superspeedway debut in the Winn-Dixie 250 for R3 Motorsports, which is owned and operated by his father Robert Richardson, Sr. Since, the teams' NASCAR Nationwide Series debut at Lowe's Motor Speedway in May, they have been preparing to move into their new 12,000 square foot race shop located in the beautiful countryside outside of Mooresville, North Carolina.

"Everyone at R3 Motorsports has been as busy as a one armed paper hanger the past month or so moving into our new shop and preparing our cars to perform to their maximum abilities in the time allotted before Daytona", said Richardson. "The guys have been working together really well, and I can honestly say that this is the best group of men I have ever worked with in racing thus far in my career." The car that Richardson is set to roll off pit road for Fridays' race is a back up car from Ginn Motorsports, purchased by R3 Motorsports from Bob Schaat. Johnny Sauter drove the car for Schaat earlier this season at Talladega and Richardson was there to witness the cars' performance. "It qualified really well and raced like a banshee, so we are definitely psyched for Daytona."

Although this is Richardson's first appearance at Daytona with R3 Motorsports, he is not a stranger to the 2.5 mile tri-oval. Richardson has competed in past races at Daytona in the ARCA RE/MAX series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. "Daytona has always been one of my favorite tracks; it has always been a track that I run well at", said Richardson. "Daytona tests your patience and your nerves. A part of you wants to go to the front early while the other part wants to be smart and wait on 'The Big One' to happen."

Like many other professional motorsports drivers, Richardson utilizes an in home simulator system to race the tracks he will be competing at to better learn the dynamics of each track and how to avoid crashes and mix ups on the pavement - like at Talladega and Daytona. "I do use simulators when I am at home", admits Richardson. "I have a Bugeye System with three monitors and a roll cage built around me in which I play NASCAR 2003 on the computer. It is the only detailed racing game where you can make adjustments to the cars such as: caster, camber, sway bar, spring changes, wedge percentages, brake bias, air pressures, grille tape, etc. I incorporate different setups we have used from past races into my simulator and that helps me to learn about setups on the car. So yes, I have been practicing for Daytona and many other tracks."

Richardson and the R3 Motorsports team will go nose to nose with forty-two other cars to compete in the Winn-Dixie 250 Powered By Coca-Cola Friday, July 4, 2008 at 8 pm EST.
