Loudon: Pole winner interview

Landon Cassill, No. 5 National Guard Monte Carlo SS, Qualified 1st:

"It felt really good. You know, a cool racetrack has a lot of grip. I'm just really proud of my guys. The National Guard Chevy, we've got the 197th here this week so I'll be hanging out with those guys. We've got a lot of work to do yet though. There's still a lot of work to do."

YOU HAVE TO START THE RACE FROM THE BACK. CAN THE CAR COME TO THE FRONT?

"Oh yeah, definitely [laughs]. We just went into qualifying with the mindset to get a good pit stall and a good opening and we've got an opening out. We'll be the first pit stall so the National Guard Chevy will be up front."

HAVING MORE SEAT TIME THIS YEAR HAS REALLY HELPED YOU HASN'T IT?

"Yes, it has showed. This is I think my fifth race in a row; the qualifying has improved almost every week. We qualified third last week and you almost think you can improve on that then to go and put it on the pole just makes it that much better.

"Racing week in and week out shows. Also racing in the Truck Series with Chevrolet and Morgan-Dollar Motorsports, I owe them so much credit to my success in the Nationwide Series, it is just unbelievable. They have given me the seat time I have needed and the patience with me learning. We have had successful runs with that truck. David Dollar, Eric Phillips, I owe a lot to them as well as GoDaddy.com."
