Mike Wallace Prepping For Loudon 200
New Hampshire International Speedway
Mike Wallace and No. 01 GK Services Chevrolet of JD Motorsports prepping for New Hampshire
When asked about his past results at the one-mile oval of New Hampshire Motor Speedway, driver Mike Wallace will tell say it’s not one of his better tracks. But, the numbers on paper seem to say otherwise.
Wallace, coming off his 400th-career NASCAR Nationwide Series start last week in Kentucky, has put together a somewhat impressive stat sheet for the Granite State track. Because of the lower-degreed banking, cars tend to race on the lower grooves through the turns and it cuts down on the ability to execute passes like other tracks.
This week, the No. 01 GK Services team put some extra hours in at the shop to get their car, and Wallace, ready for Saturday’s race. The entire team is hoping their time spent in preparation will show up on the speed chart - and scoring pylon - at the checkered flag.
Win, lose or draw; one thing is certain for everyone going to the New Hampshire track this weekend – plenty of good seafood.
Mike Wallace: “I have never felt like New Hampshire was one of my better tracks on the circuit. I love the area, the people are really into when we come up there and that makes it exciting for myself and the team. It’s good to have GK Services back on the car this weekend; we always enjoy racing with them on board.
“We are doing some things this week to be more prepared than we were last year for New Hampshire. I’m not going to tell you what, but will say we’re concentrating on the front end and how to get through the turns better. There are still some challenges we have to endure with these new cars and this will be our first time there with them.
“Aside from that, I know somewhere along the line we’re probably going to take in some lobster and excellent seafood they have to offer in the area. That’s one thing you can count on for this weekend.”
